#125 This is an Old Believers cross

Description

This cross has an expansion at the top and an expanded keeled ending at the bottom. There is an eight ended Golgotha cross on the front with a chaplet in the center. The shafts of the spear and the vinegar stick are in the form of small beads. The edges of the expansions at the top and bottom are beaded as if to depict the walls of Jerusalem. The monogram uPbC [King of Glory] is at the top of the cross. The monograms IC XC [Jesus Christ] are on lateral ends of the cross beam. At the foot of the Golgotha cross there is a cross that is laying on its side centered in a rhomb which depicts the mount. The monogram HNKA [Conqueror] is at the bottom of the cross. The back of the cross is plain. Circa 1500s
