#197 Old Believers cross

Description

This is an Old Believers Cross. This cross is shaped to represent the wings of the Seraphim, the most important angles and the caretakers of God’s throne. The bail at the top of the cross has three rings which symbolize the Holy Trinity. The eight ended Golgotha cross with the spear and vinegar stick is on the front. The monogram uPbC [King of Glory] is at the top. The monograms IC XC [Jesus Christ] are on the lateral ends of the cross beam and under those are the monograms CHb BXIN [Son of God]. Adam’s skull in the cave is at the foot of the Golgotha cross. The back of the cross has the first verse of Psalm 68 “Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered, also let those that hate Him flee before Him. Circa 1650
